This year, I had the privilege of serving as the Environmental Sustainability Committee Chair. I got to do so many great initiatives, but Earthstock was definitely the cherry on top. I am not going to put it lightly. Trying to plan a series of events during a pandemic is not easy. However, I am really proud of how everything turned out. The combination of both zoom and in-person programming allowed us to reach out to as many students as possible and allowed people to attend events in their comfort zones.

Overall, I was a bit nervous the whole time. What if people didn’t show up to events? What if the events didn’t turn out as well as hoped? However, much like everything else the past year, patience was the biggest virtue. My committee and I spent months working through the logistics, and finally, everything started to fall into place. I am so excited about how all of the events turned out. So many of the Zoom events had a large attendance.
I want to say that I think all of the events were great! I attended most, and they were well treated with lots of involvement. However, my favorite was definitely the Earthstock Block Party! It was so great to interact with all of the different groups, on and off-campus. Overall, I think the month was a great success! It was so cool to see so much engagement, and I think people were craving some safe, in-person interaction. I am excited to see where Earthstock goes next year!
