Hello everyone, my name is Anna, and I will be serving as the OS’s Communication Specialist. I started working at the Office of Sustainability on the 14th of August. What a time to join! Not only was it the start of new semester and version of attending school, but our office was also planning and preparing for our kickoff event, the fourth Sustainability Summit.

This is my first semester attending UNL so planning for and attending the summit offered a chance to get to know the UNL community and what they stand for. Amidst the hurt, stress, and confusion this year has brought for many of us, the summit stood out to me. This event served as statement of UNL’s perseverance and commitment to making positives changes and impacts. The Master Plan panelists discussed where the UNL was headed in the approaching years. Mary Pipher, presenting through the E.N. Thompson Forum on World Issues, encouraged us to be activist and to use our voices. While panelists on the Intersections of Climate Change discussed systemic racism and how we all can be a part of the solution vs the problem.

A big thank you to all of our partners and panelists who helped make this event so successful. And thank you to everyone who attended our event, I hope it was as encouraging to you as it was for me.

Till next time,

Anna Oetting.

P.S. In case you missed the summit, you can watch the events on our YouTube account: UNL Sustainability.
