Aspirational Goal: Develop the most efficient and effective system for the use and reuse of water through water resource conservation and education.

Long Term Objectives

  • Increase the use of recycled water for non-potable use at UNL by 50%.

  • Decrease the use of potable water by 25%. 

Short Term Objectives

  • Install water meters to measure water use across all UNL buildings.

  • Develop water conservation education plan in conjunction with the UNL Office of Sustainability, UNL Housing, Lincoln Water System, and other UNL & local entities.

  • Make specific changes to UNL building design guidelines for new and renovated buildings to promote water efficient practices and fixtures.
